history

In 1962, The United Methodist Home of Enid was established in order to provide high quality nursing care for seniors who needed care. Our retirement care then expanded into United Methodist Retirement Community, offering peace of mind for residents who take comfort in knowing higher levels of health care are available if and when it is needed. We expanded to offer maintenance free, independent living for seniors who don’t require care, are active and want to enjoy their retirement.

The change in our name in 2005 to The Commons, reflects our vision for the future. The name was chosen to echo the universal appeal of the entire community to all retirement aged individuals.

The Commons continues its expansion as a CCRC to serve more seniors. A not-for-profit organization, we are governed by an all volunteer board made up of Northwest Oklahoma business and community leaders. The Commons is affiliated with the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church.
